I feel like I accomplished something today. I ventured out with my assistant (Mr. Tyler James) and we were on a mission to set up a little "studio" in the house. We stopped at JoAnn Fabrics to get some fleece and then Lowe's for a sheet of plexi glass. Plexi glass can produce a nice reflection of your subject. When you use black as a background color, it can maximize the amount of reflection you see (at least that is what I read). I decided to start with an easy object that won't move or cry....a leaf bowl.
I had to edit this in Photoshop to remove the plexi glass lines. I am excited that I am actually starting to learn things. It is just the tip of the iceberg though.
I love this, Marissa!! It looks like a professional shot! Did you take a class or read a book about photography? Or do you have any websites that have been particularly helpful? Always looking for good sources of info!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I want to take a class but haven't come across one yet. I'm currently reading a book about Photoshop but I hear that "Understand Exposure" by Bryan Peterson is good. That is going to be my next read.
ReplyDeleteI read a lot of blogs at night and try to bookmark the good ones. Here is one of my favorites:

Nice! Thanks for the link--looks like she's got lots of great stuff on there! I am too wiped out to read much of it right now, but I just bookmarked it and can't wait to read more!
ReplyDeleteIn case you're looking for others, I enjoy the Pioneer Woman's light writing style (http://thepioneerwoman.com/photography/category/basic-photography/) and I also appreciate the Shutter Sisters (http://shuttersisters.com/), though I don't read that one religiously.
Thanks again! :)
